The world of AI is constantly evolving, so this time we’re taking a deeper dive into which AI Category has received the most traffic in the past 90 days. In the past 3 months, the Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) category received the most page views within the AI parent category, up 62% from the previous 90 days.

The AEO category has seen tremendous growth on G2 in the past year. Vendors are fighting to be the brand that large language models (LLM) recommend when a buyer asks for a solution.

On G2, the AEO category sits within the broader Artificial Intelligence market. Answer engine optimization (AEO) software, also known as generative engine optimization (GEO), is designed to improve a brand’s visibility in AI-powered search and discovery engines, including LLMs and AI chatbots. AEO tools optimize content for AI-generated answers, conversational interfaces, and AI-curated search results. In total, there are 248 listings in the AEO category on G2 today.

Revealing the top three AEO Market Movers on G2

To determine the top Market Movers in a software category, we identify the top three products from vendors with less than 2,500 employees according to the following set of key criteria (taking into account their percent change from the previous year):

  • Reviews: Products with the most reviews left on G2.com over the past year
  • G2 Profile views: Most page views over the past year
  • Unique buyer intent visitors: Most unique buyer intent visitors over the past year (visitors that are verified as in-market buyers according to firmographic data)

Because we aim to highlight up-and-coming players in a particular space, we are only including products from companies with fewer than 2,500 employees. I’d also like to note that, in uncovering our Market Movers, we are considering all products within this specific category, not just those whose main category is AEO Software.
