I know many of us are sick of hearing about “The Great Resignation” by now. I personally think of it as a “Great Reshuffling.” But whatever you call it, companies shouldn’t panic, because if they invest in what they should have all along – their people – they’ll be just fine.
I recognize this sounds easier said than done. Be ‘people-first.’ Invest in your people. But, how? It comes down to making your organization a truly great place to work – through the hiring and onboarding processes and then throughout an employee’s entire tenure with your organization (and even beyond!). It’s not just about add-ons like fun perks and benefits, but having a holistic strategy built into the DNA of your company. Considering that G2 was founded on its PEAK values even before the concept for the company was decided, this is certainly the case for us. Simply put, people and culture are at the foundation of everything we do.
Because of this commitment to our employees, I am proud to announce today that we’ve been named to the 2022 Inc. Magazine's Best Workplaces list! After collecting data from thousands of submissions, Inc. selected 475 American companies that have excelled in creating exceptional workplaces and company culture, whether operating in a physical or virtual environment.
To be eligible, organizations were required to have a total annual revenue of less than $1 billion and also have a minimum percentage of U.S.-based employees respond to a survey from Quantum Workplace. The survey measured a wide range of research-validated workplace factors that impact employee engagement and satisfaction, such as management effectiveness, perks, fostering employee growth, and overall company culture. Each organization’s benefits were also audited to determine overall score and ranking.
What I love about these awards is that they’re based on the anonymous, honest opinions of our employees. Just as B2B software companies can learn how to better meet customer needs from verified peer reviews in G2’s marketplace – we also can learn about what we’re doing well, and where we can improve from our employees’ authentic input. Internally at G2, we already measure eNPS and iNPS – net promoter scores for how satisfied employees are at work and how included they feel. But whenever we have other opportunities to hear direct feedback from our employees, we’re all ears.
I’m proud of G2’s inclusion on this list and the scores we achieved – yet it’s the qualitative, not quantitative results, from the employee survey that resonate with me most. For example, when U.S.-based G2ers answered the open-ended prompt for a word that best describes their work environment, “collaborative” came out on top. And here are just a few snippets of direct input G2 employees shared during the survey process that made me smile:
- “Our leaders are thoughtful and evolved individuals who set the bar high for dedication, authenticity, and accomplishment.”
- “I look around and I see more internal promotions than departing employees.”
- “After joining G2, I have felt that every day there is something that validates the choice I made to join this company.”
This is certainly a moment for us to pause and celebrate, but it’s also an opportunity to continue to learn and improve. We’ll always strive to do better and maintain a Best Workplace, not just for 2022, but in the years to come.
