The Year of AI: G2 Data Solutions’ Market Movers in AI Software Categories in 2024

Happy New Year! Today, we’re back with our latest installment of ‘Market Movers.’ In case you’re new here, Market Movers is a series from G2 Data Solutions where we spotlight the top three trending products in a trending category, all based on G2 data. 

We’re switching it up a little bit for this edition. This time, we are taking a look at AI and determining the top 3 Market Moving AI Software Categories on G2.

The Year of AI

As we all know, AI was a huge topic in 2024. In our State of Software report, published in August 2024, AI was the fastest-growing market with a 38% year-over-year growth. In our 2025 Tech Trends Report, we shared that AI is now integrated into nearly every software category on G2.

According to G2 Taxonomy & our Market Research team, there are 29 AI categories on G2, with 1,963 Vendors, 2,193 Products, and over 73,000 Reviews.

When speaking to our VP of Research Insights, Tim Sanders, he shared that “Use cases for AI are rapidly emerging as the cost of prediction continues to rapidly decline. Top categories on G2 signal breakthroughs in value creation, which will redefine AI as meaning ‘always included.’ We are focusing even more on categories and their leaders to gain valuable insights for buyers as well as sellers in this dynamic space.”

Matthew Miller is G2’s Market Principal who covers the Artificial Intelligence category. In chatting with Matthew, he shared:

"Businesses want to work faster and they want to work easier, using tools that are intuitive and ‘do what they say on the tin’ (as my British mother-in-law would say).”

Two key trends are pushing this forward: 

• Intuitive conversational interfaces, allowing users to speak to their software in natural language.
• Easy-to-use assistants and platforms to generate content, which can be textual, video, and more.

The old adage ‘content is king’ has never been truer. Creating great content at scale is an absolute must for businesses looking to get to the next level. Through this powerful software, the playing field is getting leveled and great scale can be achieved."
