Something exciting is right around the corner!
On February 19, G2 will announce the Best Software winners for 2025! These annual awards rank the world’s best software companies and products based on authentic, timely reviews from real users.
Every year, G2 reviewers crown the best in B2B software, the top products and vendors worldwide. While there are over 2.8 million verified reviews on G2 today, only those from the past year are included in the scoring to help decide the winners. A Best Software Award isn’t just for bragging rights (though, hey, if there ever was a time to brag); it’s a guiding light for millions of buyers worldwide as they decide the best software to do their best work.
If you’re new to our Best Software Awards or need a refresher on how they work, I've broken it all down below – including some notes on what’s new for 2025.
How are winners of the Best Software Awards determined?
Dozens of lists are generated using G2’s proprietary algorithm based on G2’s verified user reviews and publicly available market presence data. As mentioned, scoring only incorporates reviews received between January 1 and December 31, 2024. The top 100 software companies are ranked based on a combination of Satisfaction and Market Presence scores.
From there, the top 100 products are ranked based on reviews across all categories in which they are a part. Satisfaction is an aggregate score based on a company’s products across their assigned categories. More tailored company and product lists (e.g., "India Software Companies" and "Products for Small Businesses") feature a smaller set of winners at 25 or 50 appearing on each list.

How many reviews does my product or service need to be eligible for a Best Software Award?
This year, we’re opening the doors wider than ever! All vendors appearing on a G2 Grid® with at least one review during the eligibility period (2024 calendar year) will be considered. However, it’s worth noting that winners typically see dozens or even hundreds and thousands of reviews!

We just won a quarterly badge. How are these awards different?
G2’s Best Software consists of annual awards lists accessed without log-in required, whereas Seasonal Market Reports are quarterly detailed reports viewed only by logging into my.g2. There are also differences in eligibility criteria and the depth and breadth of the product and vendor recognition.
Can software sellers and products win multiple awards?
Yes! A software seller and/or product has the potential to be named on multiple lists based on its eligibility and rankings.
How are reviews verified and vetted?
Authenticity and trust are paramount to our approach to review collection, moderation, and publishing. It is our aim to ensure every review is the honest opinion of a real user and their own experience with a product or service.
Every review submitted to G2 undergoes rigorous moderation. We verify user identities and use over 43 data points and consistent guidelines to ensure authenticity. In fact, G2 rejects over one-third of the reviews submitted for not meeting those guidelines and standards. And while we see the clear opportunity for AI and are using it to fuel our own innovations, G2 maintains that reviews should come from genuine user experiences, only allowing AI for minor content enhancements but not review generation.
How will Best Software Award winners be announced and promoted?
If your product or company has won a 2025 Best Software Award, look for an email on February 3rd notifying you of your recognition. However, we’ll ask that you keep this news under embargo until our awards are officially live on February 19 (we’ll send an email out to all vendors then too)!
G2 will be announcing the awards not only on our site, but also via news announcements, social media posts, and more. We’ll also arm all winners with promotional materials and instructions, including templates and guidelines for:
- Accessing their Best Software Award badge(s) in my.g2
- Promoting their recognition via news announcements
- Celebrating with customizable social media graphics
What else is new for the 2025 Best Software Awards?
Drumroll, please!
Some eligibility requirements have changed for Best Software 2025.
As mentioned, vendors no longer need 50+ reviews to qualify for the awards. This change was made to expand eligibility for vendors and products on G2 while simplifying the requirements, making it easier to be considered.
Additionally, for the Functional Product Lists, a product’s percentage of categories and reviews earned within that functional list will be used as a factor in scoring. Previously, we considered representation across all categories across G2. We believe this change will provide a better representation of the top-ranked products for each functional product list.
We’re also adding the following new lists in 2025:
- Best Governance, Risk & Compliance Software Products
- Best Supply Chain & Logistics Software Products
- Best Hosting Software Products
- Best Data Privacy Software Products
- Best Healthcare Software Products
- Best Canadian Software Companies
- Best Non-Profit Software Products
- Best Legal Software Products
- Best Financial Services Software Products
- Best Real Estate Software Products
