In the year 2000, when I first started working on web development, Web2 technology was in its infancy. Some things worked, some didn’t. In hindsight, knowing which products worked well and which didn’t would have saved me countless hours and dollars, so we built G2.com to solve the problem.
In 2022, we are going through a similar challenge with Web3 technology. There are many early innovations in Web3 (there are almost 800 currently listed on G2.com). To bring transparency to what works and what doesn’t work, without all the hype, we need the Web3 community's help. Specifically, we need more people to share their experiences so Web3 innovation can accelerate. Your review could help another buyer save thousands of dollars or hours.
We have always thanked those who take the time to provide this crucial feedback to help others. As we build our Web3 community, our G2 Lab’s team is innovating a way to say ‘thank you’ that goes beyond the traditional gift card.
So, what is the best way to say thanks to Web3 reviewers? NFTs. That’s right. In partnership with the visual commerce company ThreeKit, G2 will be minting 100 unique NFTs that you can personalize to create an avatar. Designed by acclaimed artist Zach Flaman and featuring our mongoose mascot Monty, these will be granted to folks who write a quality review of cryptocurrency or blockchain software product on G2.com. G2 reviewers have shared their blockchain or crypto experience to help fellow buyers save thousands of dollars and hours. By now, G2 exclusive NFTs are no longer available..
Giving out 100 NFTs isn’t our end game. In fact, we named this project ‘Monty Genesis’ internally because we see this as the beginning of a new phase. This project will help us learn how we can use NFT and blockchain technology to benefit those that share their knowledge with our community. While we’re still determining additional ways to provide G2 NFT holders with other exclusive perks and materials, our intention is to reward early adopters that help build the community.
