At G2, we’re about to wrap up our fiscal year and are reflecting on 2023. Despite challenges we’re all facing across the tech sector, I’m proud of our team for continuing to pursue our mission with resilience — cementing our position as the premier destination for software discovery and marketplace intelligence.
I am truly amazed by what we’ve achieved together, alongside our broader G2 community, including our customers and partners. Let’s take a look back at some of our key highlights and milestones achieved over the past year.
Marketplace milestones: engaging software buyers on a global scale
More than 90 million buyers across the globe visited G2 last year, attracting more buyers and reviewers to our site than any other B2B marketplace. We also added 500,000 reviews over the past year alone – nearly 2.5M in total – publishing authentic feedback from real users about the software they use at work.
And as the software landscape continues to evolve and expand, our marketplace grew more than 10%, now featuring over 160,000 products and services from 130,000 vendors. Last quarter’s competitive analysis, analyst report, target list is already outdated, so our Market Research team diligently monitors the landscape to ensure G2 is a true reflection of what’s happening in software in real-time.
Accelerating G2’s vision & growth with strategic leadership

In addition to these exciting executive appointments, we announced Eunice Buhler’s promotion to General Counsel. Our VP of EMEA, Gordon Tobin, also oversaw G2’s Dublin office expansion, boosting our global presence and continuing to attract top-tier talent in the region.
A year of innovation to power software buying & selling in an age of AI
When it comes to product innovation and partnerships, we surely didn’t slow down. A major highlight was the introduction of Monty, the first-ever AI-powered business software advisor, built on OpenAI’s ChatGPT. New and expanded partnerships with leading salestech companies Salesloft, Gong, and ZoomInfo were pivotal aspects of our G2 for Sales initiative, which helps sellers kick sales efficiency into high gear.
We announced a number of additional product announcements and enhancements in 2023, including: a ChatGPT plug-in, ways to tap AI for review insights, a new 'Review Us' button, G2 Stack data for Buyer Intent customers, Data Solutions’ Verified Surveys, expansion of Services Grids, a Team Buying feature, Interactive Demos for G2 Profiles, G2 Achievements to recognize G2 buyers contributing to our community, and additional updates and use cases for Monty.
Driving market research & thought leadership on the state of software
It was another stellar year for thought leadership and research too, tapping into the unmatched depth and breadth of data in our marketplace. In fact, G2 published nearly 70,000 quarterly market reports in 2023, and we unveiled our 2023 Best Software Awards, 2023 Software Buyer Behavior Report, 2024 Technology Trends series, and our inaugural State of Software Report. Others, like Bowery Capital, leveraged G2’s data to power their research as well.
Further engaging with the global SaaS community, we hosted and participated in influential events. From our own 2023 Reach and G2 Live events in Bangalore and Sydney, to industry staples like SaaStr Annual and Dreamforce, these events served as valuable opportunities to share knowledge, gain insights, and foster meaningful connections.
Embracing customer voice
We always aim to drink our own champagne. That’s why it was important for us to take steps to be even more customer-centric. Launching our Executive Advisory Board was a crucial milestone to do this, and we’re so appreciative to our members for providing strategic input that will benefit not just us, but the software buyers, vendors, and investors who use and rely on G2.
We were also excited to announce G2U Certifications this past year, giving B2B sales and marketing professionals – including our customers – a way to become officially certified in their knowledge of G2 best practices.
Celebrating industry recognition
While we certainly are proud of our success, our growth, and our top-notch culture, it means a whole lot more when others recognize it. In 2023, we were honored to earn 10 distinct awards and recognitions including Great Place to Work U.S. Certification, Inc. 5000, Economic Times Future Ready Organizations, Deloitte Tech Fast 500, and Battery Venture's Highest Rated Cloud Computing Companies to Work For.
A commitment to giving back
This blog post has been all about G2, and we’d be remiss if we didn’t acknowledge the importance of paying it back to others. Our long-standing G2 Gives program encourages donations to charities for submitting reviews. In 2023, we achieved $1 million in donations to date through this program, and we look forward to seeing this amount climb in the years ahead!
Furthering G2’s philanthropic efforts, we also officially joined the Pledge 1% movement, committing to donate 1% of G2’s equity to improve equitable STEM education access. As part of the commitment, all G2 co-founders agreed to donate 1% of our personal equity to this cause too.
